TRAILER OF THE YEAR AWARD

 | | Britain’s leading road transport journal, Commercial Motor, awarded the Steelbro Containerlift Sidelifter Special Purpose Trailer of the Year 2003. The award acknowledges the application of the Sidelifter in rail environments as an economical, flexible alternative to traditional container handling equipment.
The award coincided with the delivery of two new Steelbro Sidelifters to Rugby Cement for operation at the Colnbrook Rail Freight Terminal for Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5 construction project. The two Sidelifters purchased by Rugby Cement are employed for transferring 32tonne 30ft ISO tank containers loaded with pulverised-fly ash between rail wagons and standard road skeletal trailers.
Rugby Cement’s supply chain solution at Heathrow Airport is a shining example of how a bulk commodity can be containerised and transported cost effectively by rail employing Containerlift’s Sidelifter for terminal handling. The project also received awards for purpose built, lightweight aluminium tank containers and the prestigious Good Citizen Award for its supply chain solution that is estimated to avoid over 5,000 truck journeys over 5 years on the UK roads.
Since receiving the award Containerlift’s Steelbro Sidelifters are being considered for a number of large rail projects in the Intermodal Containerlift handling field. Watch this website for news!!
