Containerlift Donation to the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust

July 30th, 2015

We all hope we never have a need for them but it is incredibly reassuring to know they are there.

The network of Air Ambulances across the UK truly offer a lifesaving service to hundreds of people every year. Containerlift is delighted to be able to support the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT) with the donation of a 20ft storage container. The container was delivered to the EHAAT’s office and base at Earls Colne Airfield, a short distance from Containerlift’s head office near Stansted Airport.

The Essex & Herts Air Ambulance provide free lifesaving Helicopter Emergency Medical Services. The Trust has two helicopters in operation, one based at North Weld Airfield on the Essex Herts board and one based at Earls Colne airfield, north Essex. Each unit averages 2 to 3 responses every day of the year. They fly to the aid of patients with serious illnesses such as heart attacks or strokes and people who have suffered serious injuries as a result of road traffic accidents, stabbings or falls from height. The speed at which the helicopter teams can attend an incident and transport a patient to hospital ensures every single second of the immensely important Golden Hour of Trauma Care is used as effectively as possible.

Steve Laver, Facilities Manager for EHAAT explains “Many people don’t realise that the life-saving service that we provide is funded entirely by fundraising and charitable donations. To keep the two medical helicopters flying and fully equipped is not cheap and any help and assistance we receive from local businesses is greatly appreciated. Containerlift’s kind donation of a 20ft storage container is a massive boost to the Charity.”

Containerlift’s Managing Director, Joost Baker adds, “When a request for a storage container was broadcast over the EHAAT’s social media we were only too happy to help. One of the Containerlift team had a close friend whose life was saved by the EHAAT. The Air Ambulance is often called to the aid of vulnerable road users who have been involved in an accident and as a keen motorcyclist myself, it is a massive comfort to know they are there.”

You too can get involved supporting this invaluable service. Visit the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust website to find out how and read more about what they do and their calendar of forthcoming fund raising events. www.essexairambulance.uk.com

IOSH-and-NEBOSH-Announcement-copy

Massive congratulations go to Marie Morton, HR Manager, for achieving her Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) qualification and to David Heys, Operations Director, for achieving the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).

Two more milestones reached as part of Containerlift’s ongoing safety improvement programme.

“Marie and David have worked extremely hard in gaining these qualifications and both deserve congratulations. These qualifications represent yet another stepping stone in our programme of improving safety. The material they have learnt is already having some great feedback in to how we operate each day. This should help us achieve the next target of gaining our OHSAS18001 Health and Safety accreditation next month.” – Joost Baker, Managing Director.
