Containerlift raise money for BBC Children in Need
Containerlift joined forces with their local school, Dunmow St. Mary’s Primary School and The Laughter Specialists to raise money for BBC Children in Need’s Appeal on Friday 17 November.
Containerlift have been sponsors of The Laughter Specialists for a number of years and being a charity that brings laughter and humour to children, they were only too happy to be involved with the fundraising. The Laughter Specialists is a small local charity who work on the wards of hospitals such as Great Ormond Street, Addenbrookes and Broomfield; they bring entertainment to terminally ill, sick and children with special needs, their families and carers.
Children at the school were delighted to be involved and made donations to wear pyjamas and spotty clothes on the day, as well as purchasing merchandise throughout the week. A special assembly took place at the school where The Laughter Specialists entertained over 400 children with their fun and magic. Then a very special guest arrived in a Containerlift truck, pulling into the playground and greeting the children – the real Pudsey the Bear! Pudsey caused lots of excitement and hysteria as he walked across the playground.
Joost Baker Containerlift’s Managing Director explains, “There is little else more heart wrenching than seeing a baby or child suffering, which is why we continue to support The Laughter Specialists. The collaboration between ourselves, The Laughter Specialists and Dunmow St. Mary’s Primary School was a great opportunity to help more children who are going through life’s toughest challenges. Between us we managed to raise £1,319.40 for Children in Need and to see the children’s faces when Pudsey pulled up in the playground in a Containerlift truck was a picture! It was great to have the BBC covering our activity and the children were delighted to see the coverage on TV that evening. It was certainly a different day at the office! We’d like to thank The Laughter Specialists and Dunmow St. Mary’s Primary School for their support and fundraising – it was a fantastic day for everyone involved!”
BBC Children in Need works throughout the year to ensure that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood, and the chance to reach their full potential. It relies on the energy and commitment of thousands of fundraisers and supporters across the UK, who donate their time and money to put on events supporting the Appeal.
